Honors and Awards

Henry Ford Technology Award

Directed a 2.5 year R&D and in-plant testing program that produced an inspection lighting system Ford installed in all 20 North American Plants. The $10M annual reduction in paint quality concerns won the project team the 1997 Henry Ford Technology Award. One of the few non-Ford employees to ever win this prestigious award for which 37,000 Ford engineers and scientists were eligible.

Jack Kraft Innovator Award

The creativity and practicality of the paint inspection lighting research program was acknowledged by the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society which awarded the 2001 Jack Kraft Innovator Award for the "Application of human factors principles and methods to new areas of endeavor."

Edwin Guth Lighting Design Award

The accomplishments of the paint inspection lighting research program were acknowledged by the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America who conferred the 1999 Edwin Guth Lighting Design Award.
